Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park, situated in Assam, India, is a renowned wildlife sanctuary with diverse ecosystems and rich biodiversity.

The park is characterized by its varied terrain, including grasslands, wetlands, and forests. It is situated on the southern banks of the Brahmaputra River.Ranges from 40 meters to 150 meters above sea level.The region experiences a subtropical climate with heavy monsoon rains from June to September, which contribute to the park's lush vegetation.Kaziranga is home to a wide range of species, including over 2,500 one-horned rhinoceroses, which represent the majority of the world’s population.

The park also houses Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, wild water buffaloes, and various deer species.Over 450 species of birds have been recorded in Kaziranga, making it an important birdwatching destination. Notable species include the endangered greater adjutant stork and various migratory birds.The park includes several species of reptiles and amphibians, such as the Indian python and various types of frogs.

Kaziranga is home to around two-thirds of the world's population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses, with numbers exceeding 2,500 individuals.Estimates suggest around 100 Bengal tigers inhabit Kaziranga.The park supports a significant population of Asian elephants, numbering over 1,000 individuals.Kaziranga is one of the few places where you can find the wild water buffalo, with around 100 individuals present.The park hosts a sizable population of swamp deer, numbering around 300 individuals.Found in smaller numbers compared to other deer species.A small population of gaurs can be found in the park.Leopards are elusive but are known to inhabit the park.

Kaziranga is one of the few places where the critically endangered greater adjutant stork can be seen. Indian Python found in various parts of the park.
